Role Description
We are looking to hire an Associate, Climate Communications at Civic Studios. With Climate Change being a pressing challenge facing the world today, we at Civic Studios are eager to create fact-checked, relatable, and solutions focused stories around climate change. To enable this, we’re looking for an associate who will curate thematically relevant insights, simplify complex environmental topics, and equip our content team with rich, timely, and digestible inputs to drive impactful narratives. You will also contribute to fundraising from the international development community to support the market entry and scaling of Civic Studios projects into climate change focused work. This shall include supporting donor applications and collating fresh, viable, and high-impact ideas. You will be liaisoning with internal and external stakeholders as part of your work. Specific responsibilities associated with the role are broken down below:
Key Responsibilities
- Provide thematic expertise on climate change and environment to a range of media projects
- Identify relevant themes, emerging trends, on-ground solutions/local knowledge systems, and real life stories that would be impactful to amplify via content
- Conduct thorough secondary and primary research on climate change and environmental issues with a majority focus on India and some global focus
- Develop insight decks, messaging briefs, action-oriented toolkits for creative teams to use and integrate into content
- Monitor climate news, reports, and academic publications to extract timely insights
- Translate technical or policy information into simple,non-expert audience friendly language
- Collaborate closely with the creative and marketing team to plan for different projects and map corresponding research needs
- Support grant applications, donor pitches, and expansion into the international development sector for climate change work
- Support expansion of Civic Studios partnerships across the international development and climate change sector through active engagement with donors/funders, philanthropies, not for profits, and other relevant stakeholders.
Role Requirement
We are looking for someone who has/is:
- 3+ years of experience working in the climate change domain
- Strong understanding of climate change concepts with a focus on India’s climate landscape
- Awareness of global climate discourse and ability to contextualise it for Indian audiences
- Proven experience in conducting secondary and primary research
- Expertise in developing innovative insight decks, messaging toolkits, and/or thematic briefs
- Strong interest in how climate and environmental can be integrated into content
- Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills, with the ability to frame insights for diverse audiences
- Proactive, collaborative, and comfortable working with cross-functional teams
- Experience/strong interest in media and social impact preferred
